LSD and the Search for God hit San Francisco in 2005, dosing audiences with swirling guitars, otherworldly drones,fuzzed-out pop melodies, and dreamy vocal harmonies. As the band developed a must-see reputation, theirdebut EP sold out before it was officially available. The record-release show included DJ sets by Colm O’Ciosoig (My Bloody Valentine) and a performance by Sonic Boom (Spacemen3). The EP continues to appear on lists of essential shoegaze albums. The follow-up release, Heaven Is a Place, captures a time when Ricky Maymi (Brian Jonestown Massacre) joined theband on drums. Like the debut EP, Heaven Is a Place frequents many Best Of lists. Pop Matters calls it, “a long-awaitedsermon for the faithful and a blazing induction for new converts,” while Primal Music says it’s “another astonishingcollection of five psychedelic stories glistening with the same spaced out ingredients that blew my mind way back in2007.”LSD’s extensive time and space travels have led them all over the U.S., Canada, and Europe. Tourmates have includedMartin Rev (Suicide), Sonic Boom (Spacemen 3), and The Telescopes; and festival appearances have includedLevitation–Austin Psych Fest, Desert Daze, Manchester’s Cosmosis Festival (with The Jesus and Mary Chain), DesertStars (with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club and The Dandy Warhols), and Portugal’s Reverence Valada (with A Place toBury Strangers, The Oh Sees, and Silver Apples).A new record is currently in the works.Selected Press Quotes:”The San Franciscans’ washed-out guitarscapes and affectionate, blanket-warm melodies resemble My Bloody Valentinejamming with Yo La Tengo.”–The Big Takeover”It was a night of exceptional intrigue and quite literally, an other-worldly performance. One chap took to taking his top off, letting his spilling gut loose and continuing to throw his head towards the monitor, just in case it was not loud enough.”–Brighton’s Finest”Heaven Is a Place is a long-awaited sermon for the faithful, and a blazing induction for new converts.”–Pop Matters, “10 Best Shoegaze and Dream Pop Albums of 2016″”Magical pop that could inspire one to take meds without a prescription.”–Autopia Music”Awesome indie psych/shoegaze. A poppier My Bloody Valentine or a more opiated Sonic Youth.”–Robotic Empire (Richmond, VA)”LSD and the Search for God are the rightful inheritors of the more coherent side of My Bloody Valentine and the more experimental, noisy side of Luna.”–Real Detroit Weekly
